- DREAMER GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT
- CONGRATULATIONS! We are thrilled you have decided to become a member of TalentDreams. Being a member of TalentDreams can be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience.
- At TalentDreams, we are aware that young people can face many challenging situations as they navigate a path to fulfilling their dreams and reaching their potential. And we want you to know you are not alone. We created TalentDreams for people just like you!
- Your interest in becoming a Dreamer indicates that you believe in your dreams and are willing to work toward reaching them. And we are here to help you do just that.
- To ensure that you get the most out of our services, please read the following guidelines carefully.
- Your Role as a Dreamer
- First, just be yourself! You are joining a community that celebrates who you are. You may not even feel like you know how that is yet. And that's perfectly ok.
- We know members may feel uncertain or hesitant as they meet new people, and maneuver along a new path to discovering their dreams and talents.
- You may feel guarded, intimidated, or any number of other things.
- Remember – whether you are, or are not, we are here to help you move through any roadblocks you come across. That’s part of the growth mindset of TalentDreams.
- All we ask is that you show up, are authentic, and sincere.
- Be patient with yourself and your journey.
- Remember you are unique – honor the person you are because there is no one else on the planet just like you!
- We want to help make connections between your dreams today to reach your goals of tomorrow.
- Behavior:
- If for some reason there is an instance where a member’s behavior is unacceptable in some manner whether it’s a form of disrespect or a behavior issue, the Champion will politely and professionally end the call and immediately report the behavior to TalentDreams staff.
- Work at remaining open even if you disagree with a Champion.
- Remember passing judgments closes us off from what we may learn or gain from another.
- If you are experiencing some sort of safety issue, please let us know immediately.
- DO NOT provide any personal contact information. This is in direct violation of the Dreamer Code of Conduct. All correspondence with Champions needs to go through TalentDreams.
- As a Dreamer, you agree to never:
- Use alcohol, tobacco or drugs when interacting with a Champion.
- Have firearms or weapons in any way part of your interaction with a Champion.
- Ask a Champion for money, gifts or any kind of financial consideration.
- Basic Rules:
- Be open and nonjudgmental.
- Hope is everything. With it, we can achieve anything.
- Champions are not here to fix. They are there to support.
- Discussions between you and the mentor are considered confidential.
- If you have a concern of any kind, notify TalentDreams staff immediately, even if it seems trivial.
- Outcomes
- Success can be hard to measure. But small things add up. The cumulative effect of participating in TalentDreams, is that you may:
- Improve your grades
- Realize how capable you are
- Develop more respect for others
- Commit to developing new skills
- Take attending school more seriously
- Develop confidence and self-esteem
- Begin to adopt more positive behaviors
- Realize even more the potential you have
- Understand the importance of setting goals
- Start to become aware of time management
- Cultivate a strong desire to invest in your future
- Develop a desire and willingness to help others
- Interact better with parents, teachers, and peers
- Increase your appreciation for education and the learning process
- Begin planning more for college or some other path you are passionate about
- Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you find any part of the guidelines unclear or confusing. TalentDreams staff is available to assist you in any way possible. Your commitment and dedication to this program may be a profound experience. We hope that it is.
- Remember, your level of participation can directly influence your life and future.
- CONFIDENTIALITY
- All the information you share with a Champion is confidential and sharing that information with others is prohibited. However, Champion are required to report certain things. If a Dreamer confides that he or she is the victim of sexual, emotional or physical abuse, a Champion must notify TalentDreams staff immediately. If you tell a Champion of your involvement in any illegal activity the Champion must tell TalentDreams staff immediately.
