An adventurer at heart, Andrew is an explorer, builder, advisor, and mentor among other things. He grew up in Arroyo Grande before moving to San Francisco. An avid reader especially as a child, Andrew is a huge proponent of education but barely graduated high school. The format and structure simply didn't work for him. He found his passion working with founders and became involved in startups. Today he's a C-level executive and helps develop the people, programs and processes that drive revenue for high-growth companies.
Andrew has traveled to 30+ countries, summited Mt. Whitney (highest peak in the lower 48 states), Mt. Kilimanjaro (highest peak in Africa), Toubkal (highest peak in North Africa), and Mount Teide (highest peak in Spain), come face-to-face with his limitations, works to accept them, and pushes hard to challenge them. He sometimes lives out of a carry-on bag for months at a time and embraces a growth mindset. Far from perfect, and far from finished, he's deeply passionate about sending the elevator back down and setting others up for success As a white male working in Tech, Andrew is keenly aware he sits atop the pinnacle of privilege in America. He feels very fortunate to have had the opportunities he has, and is passionate about creating those opportunities for others who are less fortunate. After feeling that way for years, Andrew became involved with an incredible organization called Year Up Bay Area (YUBA).
YUBA is a local and highly impactful chapter of Year Up, a national nonprofit whose mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by providing urban young adults with the professional skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education. YUBA has amazing partners like Salesforce, Facebook, Microsoft, Workday, Amazon, and many other leading organizations. Jeff Weiner (founder of LinkedIn), the CEO of Accenture, DocuSign, and many others have all played a key role in the success of Year Up.
As a mentor at YUBA, each year Andrew met with two inspiring young adults every other week as they intern with the aforementioned partners. He would provide focused coaching and mentorship to them over a 6-month period. These amazing individuals are persevering through adverse conditions, and are deeply committed to establishing the foundation for the rest of their professional careers. It's an extremely rewarding experience and phenomenal program that drives fantastic results.
Through his experience working with YUBA, Andrew realized he wanted to invest in giving back to the very place he came from. His nightmare is living in the comfort zone. He is eternally curious about everything and constantly working to learn, grow and evolve. Andrew is passionate about overall wellness: physical, social, emotional, intellectual, vocational, environmental, spiritual, and financial. In fact, he firmly believes that working towards these things is crucial to finding meaning and purpose in life.
