Talent is what you have. A dream is where you start. Action is how you get there.

Leverage micro-mentoring to share your experience and help empower the next generation!

Mentoring doesn’t have to be a big lift and involve a lot of time for you as the mentor. In fact, you’re probably already providing mentorship in ways you don’t even realize. This is the notion of The Accidental Mentor, or concept of micro-mentoring.

What is Micro-mentoring

Micro-mentoring is a relatively new concept and is the construct for the TalentDreams program. Click here to read what the Harvard Business Review (HBR – March 2025) and George Washington University (GW) have to say about the topic, and learn more about how you probably already serve as an accidental mentor at times.

At TalentDreams we call this a MentorMoment™, and it can take place in as little as a few minutes. Our goal is to create space for these moments for the youth and young adults in the program. We call them Dreamers. And we call our mentors Champions.

So what exactly is a MentorMoment™? It’s an interaction where the Dreamer learns something (small or big) from the Champion. Even a small learning can serve a big purpose. We make it easy for you to make an impact.

TalentDreams is an onlinemicro-mentoring platform

We serve youth and young adults between 14-22 years of age (Dreamers). Our platform allows Dreamers to input the criteria of what they would like to learn about, and our technology matches them with a Champion who possesses that knowledge or experience.

And what happens next is the MentorMoment™. This is often no more than a passing 30-minute conversation for the Champion, but it can be a potentially life-changing experience that’s eye-opening for the Dreamer.

Whether you realize it or not, chances are you’re already doing this without even realizing it. We’re just trying to foster more opportunities for this to happen. And in the process, you’re helping TalentDreams to change lives, one conversation at a time, by creating space for life-changing conversations.

What would a Dreamer want to learn from a Champion?SO many things!!

  • Education… information about a particular college or degree
  • Career exploration… learn about a particular occupation or industry
  • Something they’re interested in… hobbies, sports, travel, music, acting, arts, and much more
  • “Real Life” resources… life changes, finance basics, healthcare, personal development, and many other things
  • General life experience… what it’s like to live somewhere, understand how you got to where you are, etc

If you’re willing to make 30-minutes for a single conversation, you can help make an impact in a young person’s life whenever they need support, encouragement, or just an open mind that’s willing to listen.

If you’re passionate about helping to create opportunity and equipping the next generation for success, apply to become a Champion today!

FAQs about TalentDreams mentorship

Would I be a good Champion?

If you care about young people, are interested in genuine listening, and are open to sharing your life experiences — then yes! TalentDreams Champions come from all backgrounds and are united by their deep desire to help others.

We’ll also equip you with training and resources to develop your mentoring toolbox.

What can I expect as a Champion?

You can expect to meet with a Dreamer one time, or multiple times to share information with them around whatever they’re interested in learning more about.

What is the time commitment?

To become a Champion you will go through our initial online training program and then attend our New Champion Orientation which is one hour. After that, we ask that you be available at least one hour a year to mentor, but you can meet with a Dreamer as often as you like.

Do I have to pay to be a Champion?

No, there is a free Champion Plan. There are also donation-based plans that are critical in helping to fund basic program operations for TalentDreams. We don’t ever want money to be a blocker for anyone who wants to participate in the program. That’s why we provide TalentDreams free to any and all youth and young adults between 14-22 who would like to join.

That said, we literally could not operate without our Champions who donate monthly or annually. These donations are absolutely vital to our ongoing ability to operate.

What is the appliation process?

Our Champions go through an application process to be approved to be a Champion. This includes training to ensure everyone is set up for success. The training is only a couple hours. You can start the application process here.

I’m not ready to become a Champion. Are there other ways to get involved?

You can become a Supporter of TalentDreams by making a monthly or yearly donation to help us continue the work we are doing with youth and young adults in the community.
